Our approach to social design at the Blanc Festival 2023

At the heart of the design, innovation, and creativity festival held in Vilanova i la Geltrú from October 19th to 21st, we aimed to share with everyone present the power of design as an agent of social change.

The Blanc Festival, in its 15th edition and established as one of the main events in the sector, brought together a diverse audience, mostly made up of graphic design professionals seeking inspiration nationally and internationally.

On Saturday, October 21st, 2023, we took the stage accompanied by a presentation where images of our projects merged with the music of Califato ¾. But beyond a simple showcase of our portfolio, we were conveying a profound message.

Challenging conventions and breaking away from the beaten paths of conventional design, Buenaventura embarks on an unconventional mission, moving away from purely commercial schemes. These bold and surprising premises form the basis of our unique design approach, which diverges from the dominant trends in the sector. This approach crystallizes in our concept of social design, where we focus our attention on the individual, with empathy and rationality, aware of our ability to bring about transformation.

In fact, our personal vision blurs the lines between the commercial and the social. Projects like “Seres de Luz” or “Queremos contar, queremos escuchar,” which give voice to the most vulnerable, such as migrant children and adolescents, are clear examples of how we merge design with social consciousness. This approach goes beyond simply seeking profitability in design, recognizing that empathy is a powerful communicative tool in itself.

We demonstrate that graphic design has the potential to convey messages that positively impact society, and this has become a moral imperative for us: if we have a voice, we will use it.
